Sticking your leg out - Why? - Supermoto Junkie
Why on the race track are dudes on SM bikes sticking their inside leg out on turns? What does this accomplish? I was thinking maybe if a lowside was coming you could catch it a little or something but obviously in a 75 mph turn you are not ... Leg out requires less movement on the bike than leaning does. It also typically upsets the chassis less and allows for more extreme lean angles. Plus its the more natural body position given the geometry of a dirt bike. (IMO) ...
